AirAsia The British Grand Prix began today at the Silverstone circuit for the redesign of Repsol Honda team opens the way for the first day of practice.
asphalt pit boxes complete new and fresh in some areas, FP1 was held in a dry place, which helped the riders a better understanding of the new conditions and to control and start working on creating fewer risks.
Casey Stoner continued his domination over his rivals during the morning and finished at the top of the worksheets, 0.7 tenths. He recorded the fastest lap of the best times and sessions, and FP1, and 2'03 .748, which puts him just 0.2 from the record of the circuit (Jorge Lorenzo recording 2'03 .526 last season) and 0.4 to off the best pole position (including Lorenzo, 2010, 2.03.308).
Australian rider could not hope for a better start to the weekend, where he spent his 150th career GP.
Andrea Dovizioso, with the fifth fastest time of the day, felt much more comfortable in the morning to dry FP1 FP2 compared to what started wet and dried at the end of the session, but always with great water on the runway.
Casey Stoner:
"I'm very happy with how it was the day after mixed conditions, we saw a dry track, wet track, and then track a 50/50 and it was nice to have all these variations during the day, but overall the bike has worked well. We used two bikes today and get wet in the place seems to work quite well, but with rain forecast for the rest of the weekend we still have things we want to improve the bike to run better grip and give us the traction on the edge. The track looks great, but some of the oldest neighborhoods are water retention much more than what is causing difficulties in some areas, you may be in the water, but in other parts hardened. In As for the way the rain tires are currently working on should not have too many problems if the title seems to be good with Bridgestone tires and not destroy or even after the afternoon session we do not have too big a problem with them ".
Andrea Dovizioso
"This afternoon the track conditions were difficult, mostly because there are different types of asphalt that drains differently. For example, T1 and T4 were well drained, while it was wet in T2 and T3. It took me a while to find feeling, and we struggled with the traction control set. We work in different environments and I think we can improve tomorrow. It will be important in practice again tomorrow dry conditions, as we did this morning in FP1, FP2, but general is also important because we find similar conditions in the race.
